Art Show Submission: ArtFields 2025

Artfields 2025 is coming up in Lake City, SC April 25 - May 3, 2025. Submissions were due the first week in November and I got mine in just in time. There's nothing like last minute adjustments to sooth the nerves. This show takes over the town with works being displayed in local business and venues. There is a competition element to this, so there will be awards at the end. There is also a Junior version for school students to enter into that goes along with the adult version.

I had the opportunity to visit Kalmia Gardens in Hartsville, SC and took the reference photo there. The gardens were started by the Coker family. They found Sonoco and Coker University, both also in Hartsville, SC. It was quiet and peaceful down by the water. So, I worked to capture that feeling in soft pastel. This is "Kalmia Solitude" created with Sennelier and Unison soft pastels on 19 x 25 inch Canson Mi-tientes pastel paper.

Getting into some juried shows can be tough. I know this one has thousands of entries for hundreds of spaces. Maybe this year is the year.
